The Phoenix Suns went all the way to the Conference Finals last year when few of us considered the playoff worthy. But now this team is under whelming to say the least. With only Nash and Marion on the active roster from a year ago, the Las Vegas projected line of victories for Phoenix has crumbled to 43. That's barely enough wins to sneak into the #8 seed. What went wrong?
The Suns won 62 games last year, the most in the NBA. However, the Suns have made many transactions Since the end of last year, including the signing of Joe Johnson to Atlanta for fame and fortune of victory. Quentin Richardson was ousted for Kurt Thomas for a better defensive front court. Although I do not to move so it was recoverable: Boris Diaw, Raja Bell and Jim Jackson could fill the gap. But a few weeks ago Amare Stoudemire suffered a devastating injury that will keep him until February. The sun may have burned quite a chance, and will not be reborn untilStoudemire can return safely.
And it's not just the 3-month absence from Stoudemire, that it hurts. Both Joe Johnson 2. (highest 3P% last year) and Quentin Richardson (LED League for most 3's) are gone last year, will make it difficult for Nash dishing the ball to the outside. The Suns offense inside and outside are both gone close.
But most of the care situation for Phoenix it will have to change how they play. This team is old, very suddenly, and so smallwell. 6-8 Boris Diaw has played a significant Teamcenter and SF Marion and Kurt Thomas PF receive both moved one position in the rigid rotation. The Suns will be able to return from their time until Amare, because you do more damage to them push out of the playoffs. If the Marlins and Angels, the World Series, which had won all their playing career years (or close) to it and played as a team. The following year, both teams missed the postseason entirely.
There isabsolutely no chance of duplicating last year's success of Phoenix and 43 victories seem almost spacious. This is still a good team, but their one years of glory, and perhaps for ever wanting to Stoudemire. Blowing 16 to 4 pt Quarterly results in teams like Dallas will not help you. They are the playoffs, but their impact on the West too subtle to make a difference. And what is worse is San Antonio a chance on the title of a barrier has lost.
